DETACHED HOUSE – GOLCAR

The commission brief was for a new build, detached 5 bedroom house of 260m2. The house was constructed on an old cricket pavilion site adjacent to the Green Belt.

The thermal insulation was designed to be 30% more efficient than the Building Regulations minimum. The site was overlooked on two sides and had height restrictions due to adjacent bungalow properties

SCOTT BANK PRIVATE DEVELOPMENT

The commission brief was to design a private development of 10 four bedroom detached houses.

The site offered particular challenges for development due to its steep hillside location and existing features, such as existing retaining walls and a large but in-filled pond. Consequently, the scheme involved a large design input from drainage and structural engineers.
The house designs maximised internal floor area for the available plot size.

SIDDAL RUGBY LEAGUE CLUBHOUSE

The commission brief was to design a new build club house, to include changing and social facilities to accomodate able-bodied and disabled players, with separate changing facilities for male and female team members.

Special attention was given to anti-vandal precautions and durability of interior fixtures.
The scheme was overseen by Sport England who demanded strict design criteria in order to gain partial funding.

RIPPONDEN 5 BEDROOM HOUSE

The commission was to design a new build detached 5-bedroom house, which is still under construction.

The design features a large entrance hallway and gallery landing. Construction is expected to be completed by mid 2010.

LUDDENDEN PRIMARY SCHOOL CONVERSION

A conversion of an old primary school to form 4 apartments over three storeys.

Three of the apartments were 3-bedroom and all featured en-suites, utility rooms and cloakrooms with WCs.
The building is Listed and situated in one of Halifax’s most treasured conservation areas. Existing timber school room partitions were reused as party wall cladding and feature doorways. Existing timber stairs and brickwork features were also retained.
The scheme involved the alteration of three substantial queen post timber roof trusses so that a second floor level could be formed.

SHELF KITCHEN EXTENSION

The commission brief was to design a single storey kitchen extension.

The project required extensive structural alterations as the corner of the original house had to be removed. Care was taken to ensure that the stonework, windows and roof all matched the existing materials of the distinctive original house.
